In January, ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁϳԹÏ's Ruth S. Harley University Center (UC) reopened after a two-year renovation and expansion project.

Students who have spent the past year learning remotely will notice a few changes on campus when they return. Among them is the Ruth S. Harley University Center (UC), which reopened in June after it was closed for renovation a little over a year ago. With expanded dining and meeting areas already in use, there are still a few new additions coming to the UC next year.

Students at ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï and across the country are coming together, along with the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and the American Council on Education, in calling for a doubling of Federal Pell Grants for undergraduate students in need of financial support.

Since joining ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï in September 2017, James (Jim) Perrino, ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï executive vice president of finance and operations, has achieved an enviable track record of success.

½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï has brought a new face into its Department of Public Safety and Transportation, adding another voice to the climate of diversity, inclusion and tolerance that is a staple of University programming and operations.

Since the January reopening of ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁϳԹÏ's newly renovated Ruth S. Harley University Center (UC), several local and state government officials and community members have stopped by to visit. In early February, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Evlyn Tsimis, JD, deputy county executive for economic development, took a tour of the completely reimagined building and hub of the University's Garden City campus.

Many colleges and universities were fully remote during the height of the pandemic. In Fall 2020, ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï opened to our community. With exhaustive planning, regular testing protocols and almost 100 percent compliance from our students, faculty and staff, our University upheld our mission and provided a safe campus environment throughout the semester.

Four successful leaders were elected to the ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Board of Trustees at the end of 2020. Our institution is fortunate to gain the expertise of these dedicated and accomplished ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï alumni.

The board of trustees has appointed Goldman Sachs as ½ñÈÕ¿´ÁϳԹÏ's outsourced chief investment officer.

The transformation of the Ruth S. Harley University Center continues as our contractor puts final touches on some areas and continues building out others.
